Burning Man Books

I have attended Burning Man five times. Preparing for my first year, I had to figure out what my gift to the city would be. That same year, in 2010, I lived in the Mission district of San Francisco. A nearby space was leased and used for two months by a traveling, bookmaking workspace sponsored by Levis. Complete with several letterpress machines, letters, paper and ink, anyone from the community could sign up to use the space. I decided to make my first book, from start to finish. I had a special letterpress stamp made and made enough for three books. I folded the pages and sewed them together with a cover I selected different papers for. I took different books all the years I went and enjoyed waiting until I got home to read what people had shared on each page. Some contributions are serious, some are silly, some are encouraging, and some are artistic painting a different version of Black Rock City.
